Engineering

Over 100 studies were conducted for the megastructure project with international consultancy firms working closely with Nakheel’s engineering team on the design of the project. Reclaiming the island as per the designed shape was made possible by using high-tech GPS systems.

100 million cubic metres of sand were used to build Palm Jumeirah and the resulting total land area makes it approximately four times the size of London’s Hyde Park and 1.5 times as big as New York’s Central Park. Seven million tonnes of rock make up the crescent-shaped breakwater.
